Montana Pride 2011 + 2012
In 2011, I was asked to help support efforts for a state-wide Pride event in my hometown of Bozeman, Montana. The goals were simple and straightforward, host an all-ages, welcoming event for the LGBTQ+ community and it's allies in the summers of 2011 and 2012. Bozeman was awarded the host-city honor for two years, and a growing city on the map would become ground central for Montana's equality movement.
At the start, I was tasked with simply branding the event and supporting communication via social media but as time went on, responsibilities grew and my desire to market larger events was in-tandem. At the start of supporting Montana Pride, the social media accounts had a few hundred followers and the previous year's attendance landed around 1500 people. In 2011, the event brought over 5,000 people downtown Bozeman for the weekend celebration and in 2012 total attendance grew to over 10,000.
One notable achievement was the interest of a documentary film crew, excited to capture the early moments of our first year's event. You Are Loved - on Vimeo.
